Swoon Sunday with Luke Melnyk & Jeremy Kovrov from The Uncrossing by Melissa Eastlake!

Welcome to Swoon Sunday where you get to meet some of our swoon-worthy heroes.  Today we have a visit from Luke Melnyk and Jeremy Kovrov from The Uncrossing by Melissa Eastlake!

Luke, why don’t you describe yourself for us.

Luke: Hmm… I don’t know. Jeremy, why don’t you describe me?

Jeremy: That’s not the question! Oh, fine. You’re just tall enough I have to lean up a little bit to kiss you, but not so tall I can’t look you in the eye if we’re having a fight. And you have brown eyes and brown skin and lots of curly dark hair, and you are always wearing these T-shirts that are so distracting it’s actually kind of rude.

Luke: If you say so. Now, I can describe you—you’re blushing a lot.

Jeremy: Oh my god.

Luke: Look, now you’re blushing even more.

Jeremy: Shut up! Next question!

Where do you call home?

Luke: I live in the Bronx, in the apartment over my family’s store. The front room is a thrift store, and in the back we sell magic.

And do you have a special skill?

Luke: Yeah. I tell incredible jokes.

Jeremy: Luke, no. No, you do not. And you know that’s not what they mean!

Luke: All right… I can also uncross any curse, or undo just about any other magic. I sell uncrossings at my family’s store, and I’ll do cleansings for my dad’s bosses—Jeremy’s family.

Jeremy: Any curse, huh?

Jeremy, where would be your ideal vacation?

Jeremy: Well, I’ve never been anywhere. Because of my family and my… situation, leaving New York is sort of complicated. I can think of lots of places I’d like to go, like definitely California, and maybe Europe somewhere, and I’d like to see New Orleans, and a really tropical beach somewhere. But… mostly, I try not to think about that kind of stuff.

Luke: It sounds like you’ve thought about it a lot.

Jeremy: Maybe sometimes.

What’s your ideal date?

Jeremy: Oh, anywhere Luke is.

Luke: That’s sweet.

Jeremy: Is it? Because it’s kind of a problem for me.

What’s your deepest secret?

Jeremy: I guess it’s the story of my family’s curse, but I don’t really mind telling people that. I’m just not supposed to. Maybe it’s my college brochures—I try to hide those.

Hey! My questions are way more intense than Luke’s. Ask him another one.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever done, Luke?

Luke: Ha. Probably kissing him.

Jeremy: That can’t possibly be true.

Luke: Have you met your family? They’re pretty scary.

Froot Loops or Lucky Charms?

Jeremy: Definitely Lucky Charms.

Luke: I usually grab a Pop-Tart. I’ve got places to be.

It wasn’t only that Jeremy craved kissing Luke Melnyk like chocolate. It was that he’d been so sure that this summer job thing was a story he already knew, a story about Alexei’s big plans crashing to pieces against Jeremy’s high walls. This twist changed the shape of the world.

About The Uncrossing:

Luke can uncross almost any curse—they unravel themselves for him like no one else. So working for the Kovrovs, one of the families controlling all the magic in New York, is exciting and dangerous, especially when he encounters the first curse he can’t break. And it involves Jeremy, the beloved, sheltered prince of the Kovrov family—the one boy he absolutely shouldn’t be falling for.

Jeremy’s been in love with cocky, talented Luke since they were kids. But from their first kiss, something’s missing. Jeremy’s family keeps generations of deadly secrets, forcing him to choose between love and loyalty. As Luke fights to break the curse, a magical, citywide war starts crackling, and it’s tied to Jeremy.

This might be the one curse Luke can’t uncross. If true love’s kiss fails, what’s left for him and Jeremy?
